Indications
Micoson is indicated in the treatment of tinea capitis,
tinea corporis, tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea mannum,
tinea cruris, tinea barbae, onychomycosis, pityriasis
versicolor, cutaneous and vulvo-vaginal
candidiasis, candidosis of skin and nails.
Dosage and Administration
Sufficient Micoson Cream should be applied to cover the
affected areas twice daily (morning and evening).
Early relief of symptoms (2 to 3 days) is experienced by
majority of patients and clinical improvement may be seen
fairly soon after treatment is begun, however Candida
infections and tinea cruris and corporis should be treated
for two weeks and tinea pedis for one month in order to
reduce the possibility of recurrence. Patients with tinea
versicolor usually exhibit clinical and mycological clearing
after two weeks of treatment. In nail infections, infected
nails should be clipped as short as possible, and the cream
applied once a day on the infected nail and the medication
rubbed with the finger. The nail should be covered
preferably with a non-perforated occlusive dressing.
Loosening of the infected nail is an indication of clinical
improvement. Treatment should be continued till the growth
of the new nail is established. When all the lesions have
disappeared (usually in 2 to 5 weeks), the treatment should
be further continued for a period of two weeks to prevent
relapse.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.
