HYDROCORTISONE CREAM 1%
(HYDROCORTISONE ACETATE CREAM B.P.)
Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Cream for topical use.
For External Use Only.

Composition
Each gram of cream contains:
Hydrocortisone Acetate B.P.: 1.0 % w/w.
Cream Base: q.s.

Indications
Primary irritant dermatitis
Eczema atopic: infantile; discoid; stasis eczema
Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Lichen simplex and pruritus ani
Prurigo nodularis; Neurodermatoses
It may also be of help in the management of insect bites,
sunburn, prickly heat, and otitis externa.
Dosage and Administration
Adults, children and elderly:
A small quantity should be applied to the affected area two
or three times daily. Cream is often appropriate for moist
or weeping surfaces.
Or as directed by the Physician.
Contraindications
Infections bacterial / viral / fungal
The use of topical steroids in viral skin infection
should be avoided, particularly when the infection is close
to the eyes.
Ulcers (delayed wound healing)
There are few indications for the use of topical
corticosteroids on healing ulcers (as opposed to treating
any surrounding dermatitis) except possibly in the
management of a complicating contact dermatitis and in the
treatment of vasculitic ulcers.
Hypersensitivity to one of the constituents of the base e.g.
lanolin or one of the preservatives.
