DEXAMETHASONE-AGIO SOLUTION FOR INJECTION

Composition
Each ml of Injection contains:
Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP
Equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 4 mg
Methyl Paraben IP 0.15% w/v
(As Preservative)
Propyl Paraben IP 0.02% w/v
(As Preservative)
Water for Injection BP q.s.

Indications
Dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection is indicated in the
synovitis of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis including
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, acute and subacute bursitis,
epicondylitis, acute nonspecific tenosynovitis, acute gouty
arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis,
pemphigus, herpetiformis, severe seborrheic dermatitis,
severe psoriasis, mycosis fungoides, bronchial asthma,
contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, serum sickness,
severe acute and chronic allergic and inflammatory processes
involving the eye and its adnexa, ulcerative colitis, for
palliative management of hypercalcemia associated with
cancer, leukemias and lymphomas in adults, acute leukemia of
childhood.
Dexamethasone injection may be used to treat patients with
cerebral edema from various causes.
Dosage and Administration
Usual adult dose ranges from 0.5 to 20 mg daily depending on
the severity of the disorder.
Dexamethasone injection may be administered intravenously or
intramuscularly.
The parenteral administration must be reserved for
administration in emergencies or ad intensive therapy.
Intra-articular (depending on the size of the joint),
intralesional, intra-muscular or soft-tissue injection: 0.8
to 4 mg.
Contraindications
Unless considered life-saving, systemic administration of
dexamethasone is contraindicated in systemic viral and
fungal infections and in patients with peptic ulcer,
osteoporosis and psychoses. Dexamethasone is also
contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to the
drug or any component of the injection.
