CEFIPIME
POWDER FOR PREPARATION OF INJECTION SOLUTION

Composition
Each Vial contains:
Cefepime hydrochloride USP
equivalent to Cefepime USP 500 mg/1000 mg/2000 mg

Indications
Cefepime is indicated in the treatment of the following
infections:
1. Pneumonia (moderate to severe)
2. Empiric therapy for fabrile neutropenic patients
3. Uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections
(including pyelonephritis)
4. Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections
5. Complicated intra – abdominal infections (used in
combination with metronidazole)
Culture and susceptibility testing should be performed where
appropriate to determine the susceptibility of the causative
microorganisms to cefepime.
Dosages and Administration
Mild to moderate urinary tract infections (uncomplicated
and complicated) – 500 mg to 1.0 g IV & IM
Mild to moderate infections including bronchitis, skin and
skin structure infections – 1.0 g IV & IM
Severe infections including pneumonia, urinary tract
infections, complicated intra – abdominal infections,
including cases with bacteremia – 2 g IV
Empiric treatment of fever in neutropenic patient – 2 g IV
Contraindications
Cefepime is contraindicated in patients who have shown
immediate hypersensitivity reactions to cefepime or the
cephalosporin class of antibiotics, penicillins or other
betalactam antibiotics.
